vintage e21 recaro seats in reasonable condition are worth 1000 bucks / pair +/- 250 bucks. perfect / restored recaros are probably 2000 to 2500 / pair ... more if leather.
When I bought my car 10 years ago it was still possible to buy a refurbished 4 speed ZF from the dealer for about $2500. As i have a noisy ZF I was tempted to go that way since the suspect needle bearings on the input shaft are NLA and I couldn't find any. But I was lucky with my saved search on ebay for a Getrag and lucked into a rebuilt 265/6 with a buy it now price that was a real bargain so I snapped it up. Lighting may strike again if you are patient, but 10 years is a long time and prices and availability have changed for the poorer.Deal, by now I'd be rebuilding that block, and head, hone that block new rings, and start cleaning up those rust spots under sid. But honestly great patina there, this car has character with those Webers and neat air cleaner, and that noisy ZF. My 2800CS has a noisy ZF, what is the cure for that outside of a Getrag swap ??????
sound's like couple issues with older higher miles ZF 1253 gear boxes, they have issues with the input bearing, and lay shaft bearings, assuming those bearings are available at bearing supply that has metric automotive bearings. Was thinking about contacting these guys about bearings but pretty sure there would be a premium price for them? https://www.eliteracingtransmissions.com/shop/p/z5-s5-183-synchromeshWhen I bought my car 10 years ago it was still possible to buy a refurbished 4 speed ZF from the dealer for about $2500.
