B35/L-Jet/Motronic conversion

A few thoughts for you....

Home depot now sells the very nice 3M friction tape. Try it and I think you will like it.
Plan on 3-4 rolls. Remember that you will be deleting the purge valve wires, the oil level wires from the harness.

Be very careful with the black wires to the coil, ecu, engine connector and diagnostic connector- they are shielded by the brown orange wires that go direct to ground. Any screw ups thhere and you will send unfused +12volts through the coil and right into the entire harness.

For the ecu molex to go through the firewall- I measure the molex connector and then cut with a dremel. From memory the hole is 1 1/2" x 2" . Be very careful as you will be cutting right next to the brake lines. I have seen people cut 2 holes- 1 into the cowl area and then 1 into the glove box area. I don't care for that and just cut 1 hole directly into the glove box.

Normally the fuel rail needs to have fuel hoses bent a bit to fit properly.

I have 3 of the conversions that I have done registered for Monterey tomorrow- if you want I can take some pics for you.

Just a thought- try to make that harness as long as possible from the valve cover to the glove box. The e34 harness is rumored to be shorter than the e24 or e32 harness and thats not good.

Sorry, such a noob on this.

So if one goes w/a 3.5 rail, one can go w/those Vanagon injectors? Going from L-Jet, can one use the harness w/these injectors or are the clips different? Or should you just use the 3.5 harness?

Also, I gather no problem using this rail w/a L-jet manifold?

L-Jet w/stock rail:

And those injectors will fit the L-Jet manifold???

I think what Don is trying to say is that with the stock L-Jet intake, the injectors come off the intake at a slight angle (not vertical) however, you will notice that the 3.5 rail has the injectors coming off perpendicular to the rail. So if you try to use the 3.5L rail on the stock L-Jet intake, the injectors will not seal at the intake, because they need to be at a slight angle and the rail will not accommodate that angle.
