Hi All....

I've got a complete 91 535i for a B35 engine swap into my 73 and currently I am trying to remove the engine wiring harness.

what is the best way to get this out without cutting something that i shouldn't or something i will be needing. is there a process that illustrates how to get the harness out, how to separate it from the rest of the harness, and which components to use for the swap.

hopefully someone can point me in the right direction...

TLDR: I'm looking for "here's how you get the harness out" and "this is how you prepare the harness for the engine swap"

I'm going to guess its a 1 hour job to pull that harness and a 8 hour job to make it work once you know how to do it. Usually better to buy one already done.
There's a guy in Sac? that sells them cheap.
Takes hours to teach someone how to do it right.

I have just done this.

The engine harness is easy to isolate but you do have to cut some of the tapes which connect the harness for the front of the car and the ABS..

On the LHS of the engine bay where the EMC sits, there is a simple positive terminal. You will need the relays there so keep them too. I kept the whole box.

On the RHS there is the fuse box but after trying to get to this, I stopped the job at a large multi-wire circular connector which feeds a number of wires into this. I worked out that this would include the ignition along with a whole heap of other wires not needed for our cars, such as cruise control, et al.,

When re-fitting, I will separate these and connect the relevant ones through my existing fuse box.

I took one out for you to see today.

Someone on one of the boards- no name sorry.
I build my own!

Ok- Vern is here working at my shop this week.
Vern is the head electrical guy at CoupeKing.

Anybody wants harnesses made for MS or 179 conversions he will make them.
Theses are plug and play harnesses that are full filleted versions with friction tape.
Soldered connections with marine duty heat shrink.
Harnesses are made on a b35 engine on a stand so everything fits.

How much do plug and play harnesses go for for B35 swaps? W/this harness, what STILL needs to be removed from the donor car?
