Has anyone installed rear facing car seats for their little ones in their e9? Is it do able (in the back seat)? Any models that fit well? Thanks

Haven't done the rear facing seats, but we put our regular car seats in for the kids last week. My kids legally can be in boosters, but without the shoulder belts, it's a no-go. The car seats can belt in with the lap belt and the seat gives them the 4 point harness. As I recall, if the rear-facing car seat has a base that can be secured in with a lap belt only, you should be good to go. My wife only ever purchased Britax seats. They are supposedly the best. I bought a cheap yoga mat at Marshalls for $7 and cut it in half and used it for beneath the seats too.

This is part of my day job. Most rear-facing seats should fit OK in the back of an E9 with lap belts only -- but it will be a pain (as with most 2-door cars) to secure the child in the seat, and the seat into the vehicle, back there. Seats with a removable base may be easier. Be sure to follow the seat manufacturer's instructions. Britax makes good seats; so do others. Most retailers will let you test-fit a seat in your car before you buy it.

BTW, the usual recommendation is that seat belts (or at least the webbing) should be replaced after 15-20 years -- and some say much sooner, depending upon exposure to sunlight, etc. Race belts every 2 years. Of course, any belts showing fraying or that have been in a crash should be replaced.

Race belts every 2 years

Except the FIA belts which are good for 5 years before they need to be chucked or rewebbed.

My '69 US car had the shoulder mounts on the rear shelf from the factory. I put 3 point belts front and rear in my car. I take my boys, 4 and 7, out quite a bit.

Just mentioning that...if you have lap belts only in the rear, the mounts may already be there for the upgrade when they get older and just need the booster.
