Long story short The engine sat in the car for10 years during restoration from a shell until we were ready to fire it. Ran it for 20 minutes and went to put the final torque on it and one bolt wouldn't hold past 20#s due to a stripped hole Pulled the head and found the pistons were 1/2mm over the deck. Certed the hole and put back together with a thicker head gasket Went for a ride finally and the oil pressure light came on in two blocks Pulled the pan and the oil pump was no good Pulled the bearing caps and the bearings were now galled and were no good. Oil was black. I know what the answer was. Who ever assembled the engine slapped it together never cleaned the oil passages and put it together dirty and `told the owner it was done.

This was done by one of the three top engine builders in the Phoenix area. Moving forward to two weeks ago when we found this out, the shop forman came up yesterday `put his `hand on his chin and wisely said'Yup, something got in there" but it's been 10 years so I don't know. anything including moisture. The red flag came up at that point. I said I am not going to sue you, which I couldn't, but if I have to suck it up I will or if you guys want to gentleman it would be good They called me today and said they would re machine and rebuild the short block. Good things do happen. To be fair, I said I would eat the cost of a new pump as they are pricey
