BaT Auction (non-BMW, but interesting - in a not great way).

Recently BaT had an auction for a 1999 Cadillac DeVille... A pretty unremarkable car IMO, but to each their own.

The thing was that the majority of the photo's were VERY obviously AI generated or edited.
The auction was removed - but left up for us all to see - kudo's to BaT for doing so.

But how with the pictures of the car so far off base.... How did BaT not see that....???
The auction comments are numerous - and if you have some time - worth a quick review.

BaT also addresses this in their podcast.
One thing that really bugs me is that the tone of the podcast is kind of....
"Yeah - we should have done better. It's a learning opportunity for us and..... &^%$"
Almost in a shoulder shrugging manner. Makes me uneasy on how to view the authenticity of their auctions moving forward.

YMMV as always.
Keep the shiny side up. :)

Somewhat sympathetic to BaT opinion here- it was not immediately apparent to this 66 year old non-techie that those photos were AI. Only when one funny comment pointed out the stone paver floor mats did I see it. But yes the BaT ad reviewer should have been more discerning than I.
My other sympathy is that the comments got way over top and an illustration of piling on mob mentality groupthink. This seems common on BaT sometimes as positive comments too.

Picture's weren't obvious to me. The one of the motor that looks like the front grill is missing looked odd. I assume this is an AI error if so it is obvious. AI edited images are relatively new, I'm sure BAT will catch up. Bought two cars on BAT, pretty happy with them.
