BaT Taiga CSL auction

Wow - I was hoping a nice E9 would show up on BaT so that I have a chance to win a good one at auction. Unfortunately this one might be too nice and well beyond my budget.

re: "...original dash has some curling..." Did CSL's have a sewn-together two piece top of the dash ? (instead of the one piece vacu-formed vinyl-on-foam-on steel frame, like my regular CS)

Does anyone know of a resource in Toronto that could inspect the overall rust condition of this car?

A serious buyer should fly in an inspector with intimate barmobile knowledge in my opinion. The last couple of Bats sold for nearly $350K.

Looking at the ask on the original E9 post - I believe that $150k is a bit much for this considering it needs a little TLC. Who knows - rare BMWs have been bringing strong money on BaT lately. At least we know the reserve is north of $100k. I'm out. :)

My 2 cents worth: this is infact a rare 2275xxx light weight. With BMW's lack of details regarding production specifics, this one still (seems) has its original 'factory' light weight tell tale signs like, fixed rear plexiglass, thin gauge windshield (this is very rare since those w'shields aren't available and long gone replaced by those who had them). Non power steering, no interior hood locking mechanism. True lightweight (like the early carb CSL's)! BUT, to get it to the condition it should be, floor boards, doors bubbling up, patch work in the trunk (and where else) complete paint job and and and........ SO YES, at 150 thousand, it is almost 50% more than it should (have) be. There is a lot of work out there to do. And that price vs condition is only because it's a CSL in spite of being the least valuable of the 4 series CSL's built. This one will also have to be completely taken apart and the rest, work vs price is 'repeated and proven history'! Either way the buyer will end up with an expensive restoration. I'm guessing that fact was a major turn off for the buyers who were interested when this car was first offered here. At that total price, it would be for collectors, to restore and store!
I'm afraid that (new) CSL's ownership is growing into another financial sphere!

Didn't the BaT cars come with aluminum (aluminium) doors? IF so, why the paint bubbles along the bottom? Just wondering - not going to be a bidder or buyer!

While the ask is likely high, I'd suggest another ownership strategy is to buy and enjoy. IF YOU believe in the market, the next owner should then have (even) deeper pockets and write a check to restore. Assuming you suss out the resto needs!

I wonder what happened to inside of trunk lid, almost looks like fiberglass? Also, pop rivets near latch. Did CSLs not use the torsion rods in the trunk?

It is some kind of high density cork or similar that has been painted over. The latch being pop riveted is original (steel and trunk is aluminum)
