battery drain

Steve,

With key off open the driver side door and push the jamb switch with your finger. You should hear a relay click under the dash. This allows you to use the windows with doors open and key off. It was a security feature I think and I thought all coupes had this.

Chris, I can't really see this original feature in my mind. Please give us some more details.

I would problem solve the system by finding which circuit is draining your battery. Find the fuses that are powered with the ignition off, then remove one at a time. When you find the fuse, which when removed does not drain the battery, you can problem solve that circuit.

Cheers,

Rod

Stefan,

This may only relate to mid 73 coupes with circuit breakers for the windows, I am not sure. Windows do not operate when doors are closed unless ignition switch is on. However, if you open the driver's door only, windows will work. The driver's door switch has two terminals, all others have only one to make connection to ground. The second wire connects to a relay above hood release, it clicks if you push door switch which disables the windows as when door is closed. My coupe had been rewired to have full power from the cigar lighter by a prior owner which I disconnected. It prevents someone with a long stick from reaching the window switch to unlock the door by lowering the window.
