Battery height for e9

I'm looking for a new battery for my '72 3.0CS and find that many suppliers are recommending batteries that are 8" high, some 7.5" high. Measuring from my e9 battery-box's bottom panel, it looks to me that an 8"-high battery would be too tall and might interfere with the hood assembly. The car's current battery is 6-7/8" high.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Why not buy the correct BMW battery for the coupe?
we keep them in stock.

Thanks. Could you tell me the correct battery's measurements, or group size? From what I see on another thread here, the correct group size is said to be 47, which is 7.5" tall.

Taylor - you would do well to connect with Don as you attempt to get your car ready for sale. He is a great resource.

Beautiful battery Don.
Is the entire battery made in Austria or just the sticker?

I am not gonna say a battery is pretty but if I was.............and

why does everything cause cancer in only California?

The Battery Store, of all places, has the correct size battery, AGM version (what I bought, don't know if they have flooded acid version), usually with a 10% discount 1st time you go to their website. Duracell brand, manufactured by East Penn, which are highly regarded. They seem to have stores "everywhere".

Home Depot also has Group Size 47 battery, Exide with 3 year free replacement warranty. $109.00, 10% off for veterans.

Your engine bay looks like a nice place for lunch. Nicely appointed.
