I’m jealous!Out here in the land of fruits and nuts we're still cruising the twisty roads...

I’m an hour south of the snow belt in NE Ohio. We haven’t had much snow the last few years, but this month and last we’ve had several episodes of mild snow and freezing rain. I think in order to use all the back stock of salt, they went crazy and dropped it all. We’ve had some decent rains but there’s still clouds of pulverized salt in the air driving down the road.Stunning photo. Here in the land of the Quakers, they came to PA to do good and did very well, some of us drive all winter. We wait for rain, now quite common due to climate change, to wash the roads clear, wait a bit longer for them to dry, and we drive!!! Never put a car away for the winter, will not deprive myself of what makes me happy.
Thanks! We're getting more snow this afternoon here in beautiful Ohio. We've had to clear the driveway more this year than we have in several years.Great pic tiger...I haven't had to plow, shovel, or use the snowblower yet. But that is super rare here in N. Idaho. The coupe is available to drive if I want, it's being stored at my buddies, I think I will try and get it out for a spin this week, it's going to warm up to a blistering 40 degrees. It's pretty much been 32 consistently for a few weeks, just no snow that is really sticking (around town, no but mountains have been getting snow).
I think I noticed some chemicals (the new salt) on the garage floor below my wifes 4Runner, so it is still hard for me to want to take out the coupe this time of year.
Mike, haven't heard "the land of fruits and nuts" in quite some time...awesome! Always funny to me. What's not funny are all the fires, crazy out there right now, hope everyone from there on the board has their house standing. I went through all this in Northern Cal at my folks place twice over the last few years...no fun at all.
Oh man bummer...that sucks. Hopefully the motor didn't blow and you caught it in time. Thanks! We're getting more snow this afternoon here in beautiful Ohio. We've had to clear the driveway more this year than we have in several years.
The Bav is in the garage until the roads are clean in the spring. I'll start it every few weeks to circulate fluids.
I daily a '15 M3, and must've hit something hard enough to puncture the oil cooler on the underside of the front bumper. We were unpacking the car after a sled riding excursion Saturday and noticed more than snow melt going quickly down the floor drain. Ugh.
Yikes!Oh man bummer...that sucks. Hopefully the motor didn't blow and you caught it in time.
I for the first time in my life blew my wife's N54 motor in her 2010 535i X-drive Touring a little while back. $12.5K later, I sold it for like $200 more than I put into the motor rebuild. It was in great shape otherwise, hated to see it go to the wrecker. Would I have made the same decision again...NO. But, I saved the car and hopefully the new owner is still enjoying it. I hope you have better luck than I did. Supposedly the harmonic balancer wasn't torqued properly? IDK, above my pay grade...
I had the same problem when the Touring broke down. I couldn't push it out of the road. After a quick YouTube search I found I had to pull the shifter plastic cover on the inside of the car, take a small screwdriver and push it in a slot to pull the transmission back to neutral. I thought that was totally out of character for BMW to design something like that. Crossing my fingers for you that it is just the oil cooler.Yikes!
As of now, it sounds like I’m OK aside from a new oil cooler and shopping for a more robust skid plate to offer more protection than the stock plastic part.
It’s a dual clutch auto that can’t be shifted into neutral without the engine running, unless you remove some cable from the transmission housing under the car. No thanks. I added a few quarts and quickly got it out of the garage and onto the flatbed.
