In my first post I asked about purchasing stock coil springs for my '72 Bavaria. The advice: buy new. I will. Now, they are available from BMW, but are they available at a certainly lower price from other suppliers?

Steve, I thought I needed new front springs for my Bav (I replaced the strut housings and turned out, they can differ so my car was not perfectly even). I called Carl Nelson and the quote I got was " If I count the number of times I saw springs wear out on one hand, I would still have 5 fingers".

Bob, I am replacing the H&Rs to lift the car. A. I don't like the low stance as it came to me. B. I bottom out on places I never expect to. Hence, new, stock springs. It will still have the Koni shocks and bigger, fatter sway bars. And decent street one-season tires.

Thanks, Thomas but the price in euros and the shipping across the sea are just too much. Will have to buy domestically.

Calling Carl Nelson at Lajolla Independent is a good place to start. http://www.bimmerdoc.com/
If he says used springs are still good to use then go for used. He’ll know exactly what you need and may have some to sell you.

Steve, I understood from the start but was indicating that Carl did not think used were any different than new.

Hello Steve,
if you decide to go with used, I have the rear springs from my 71 bavaria as an option.
