I was invited to the annual dinner for CSRG vintage racing group. Among other beautiful cars, there was a lovely restored 503. I'm not sure what these are worth but the restoration cost must have been exorbitant.

Unfortunately the cars are packed so closely it's hard to get any good shots.

Nice to see 69159 was restored. This 503 Sunroof Coupe is a Series I with four on the tree, with an asking price of $250K it's fairly priced.

Here it is from BaT in December of 2013.

I had a chance to buy a Series 1 503 Cabriolet Project which was at VSR in 2017. The owner was accepting sealed bids, mine was $100K. A West Coast person offered $250K & was allegedly going to restore it.

The highest price paid for a 503 Cabriolet was $583K https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/...-quail-lodge-auction/1957-bmw-503-cabriolet/#!

Gorgeous 503. I think if I had my choice I’d take a 503 over a 507. They always remind of George C Scott and his turbo charged 503 in “The Last Run”. Buckle up.

You said this is in the Bay area, what is the name, where is it?
Fantasy Junction is at 1145 Park Ave, Emeryville, CA. I was there Saturday with a couple of car guy friends but didn’t see the 503 in the showroom then. I either missed it with the crowded cars or it was moved in for the dinner. On a Saturday morning there was a group of Porsche guys there and not many others. It’s a great mixture of classics and vintage race cars.

I didn't know FJ was still around. I used to see ads for cool FJ cars back in high school.

503 is now on BAT.

It has quite a story.
Hagerty valuation for #1 condition is $254K
This one may get there.

I think the valves need adjustment , she’s a bit tapety in the last scene
They were not afraid of getting stone chips in the paint anyway :)

The Last Run film makers had no qualms about abusing that 503.
Agreed. That 503 was only 13 or 14 years old at the time the movie was made. Less than 200 Cabriolets were made. What would it’s value have been in 1971? $10,000? (generously) That’s .05% of the budget of a movie that cost $2 million to make. As I recall it was pretty well totaled by the end. Its been a long time, I need to watch it again.

i love the 503. perfect car for me - i was born in 1957 and grew up with a street address of 503 with a zip code ending in 503. all i need to do is to find one that i could afford in good shape. okay, back to reality ... next idea.
