Belt line trim

What a pity. A few years ago, they were ok. Not perfect but ok. The front wing ones were a bit too short and the stop piece at the rear of the door piece was too long, preventing the pin from entering the hole in the door. So I had to knock the alu locking piece in the groove out a bit, and saw it off, then file and push back. But the rear ones were ok, not like what you describe here. There is just one supplier, guaranteed, and BMW need to know about this.

i bought my trims from BMW a few years ago (i think 2012 or 2013) ... exactly like the pics earlier within this thread ... way different than the original trim on my coupe. because i wasn't ready to try to put them on my car at that time, i am probably stuck with a couple of hundred dollars worth of new junk. i like the idea of giving the guys from BMW a rear fender and a new rear belt trim and see how long it takes them to put it on ... i would even donate one of these belt trims

Yesterday I was fitting the indicators with new parts 63131811103http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...0CSi&mg=63&sg=10&diagId=63_0511&q=63131811104 – 63131811104 - 63131811100 – 63131811099. The rubber bases were too long to fit and one of the lenses was curved in at the top such that it would not fit tight. I then spent a lot of time cleaning and restoring the original rubbers which fitted perfectly and are of a superior material. I then removed the lenses from my other E9, spent more time polishing and cleaning and fitted them to the restoration car for a perfect fit, and with the BMW logo on the lens, which is missing from the new lenses.

The new stuff is now compromisingly fitted to the other E9 by cutting the rubbers into sections to fit and by carefully trimming the top of the lens to fit better, thought there is still a gap.

Shame is a great motivator so I would love to see the fitment competition mentioned earlier.

I wonder how BMW Classic restores customer's cars?
