BMW 3.0 CSi with factory automatic transmission

After hearing about the stainless steel 2800CS a few years ago, I searched for photos and managed to find a few of the one on display. Not sure where that Alpina wheel came from.
Here's the translated text from the plaque:

In 1969, three test vehicles of the type 2800 CS with a stainless steel body were built on behalf of BMW. The bodies were built by Karmann in Rheine, in close cooperation with Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (DEW), later belonging to Thyssen. Remanit, a standardized, non-rusting steel, was used as the material. With this project, BMW wanted to demonstrate that the stainless steel used can be processed with conventional tools and also works well in combination with normal steel parts

Other car makers toyed with stainless steel but only Delorian made a full commitment.

The Delorean was only on the outside skin stainless. Underneath there was a frame work from regular steel ( which rusted badly). On the other hand the 2800 CS was fully stainless. I saw one of the cars about 2 years ago on a visit to Germany and had the opportunity to take some pictures.
