BMW 3.0CS Front Strut issue

I installed the K-Mac castor and camber plates and they made a huge difference. However the drivers side wheel still just hits the guard on rough surfaces. I haven't changed the springs from side to side as yet. I understand that the shocks don't impact rider height but I wonder if it is past it's used by date and is weaker under load.

So just changing the castor/camber plates changed the ride height so it's all level? INteresting; I wouldn't have expected that.

The ride height is the same however the camber is now more negative so the tyre sits inside the guard a bit more. I have 225's on the front and I think by changing them to 205's the tyre rubbing will be resolved. As for ride height, I haven't been able to resolve that as yet.

Is it possible the spring pads are different thicknesses side to side?

Checked that as well. They are the same. The only thing I haven't changed is the shock, however from all accounts that shouldn't impact ride height.

Well I ended up fitting 205 tyres and there is no scrubbing. Still doesn't explain the ride height difference but at least I can now drive it without worrying about the scrubbing.

sorry to revive but any luck figuring this out I'm having similar chase on my e12 which has very similar suspension i have a wheel that has exaggerated positive camber

There are eight different struts that will fit but only a few are correct. I had the same issue on passenger side, I replaced the presumably 2000CS strut with one from Carl and it is still too short. I am on the hunt for the correct length. I discovered that a 2000CS strut will have three M8 safety bolts, e9 is M10. E12 uses the M48 gland nut, e9 is M50. Carl advises to measure strut length, tube height from inside the perch to the top and from perch to tip of spindle.
