I just picked up a BMW 633csi basically because I liked the wheels. I was told they have magnesium centers which intrigued me. They are Jong Bload wheels, anyone heard of them? any value? It also has a Personal steering wheel which is kind of cool. I lifted the car up to take a wheel off to see any markings for offset and width ( which it didn't) but once I took the wheel off I noticed the Blistein shocks and springs which are blue which got me thinking, what if it also has a LSD?? Hopefully someone will be able to answer this based on the attached photo. What other parts are worth keeping? Anything from the engine work on an E9? The 5-speed manual tranny interchangeable? I'm gonna junk the car in a week or so and want to keep anything that may be useful. Thank you in advance for any information.

Interesting wheels. I guess you can re-use the 5 speed Getrag.

I assumed that just like Legs Akimbo, JongBloed would be another sports icon, and indeed Jan Jongbloed was a famous Dutch goalkeeper. Jan retired after he had a heart attack while playing, sadly and remarkably his son also a goalkeeper was killed by lighting while playing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Jongbloed

Yeah, the engine is a flavor of M30, but it is arguably the worst one to use. The 5 speed may be good, though. Like Don said, the diff is not the right kind.

Can’t the later differential be used if he uses the later cross-member as well ? I know you can’t use the late swing arms unless you weld spring pads on them but I guess the next big question is :confused: would the early coupe swing arms bolt up to the later cross-member, then reinforcing the wheel houses for coil-over shocks or putting spring pads on the latter swing arms wouldn’t be a problem. ~ John Buchtenkirch

That's a 9/82 or later car so the tranny is a Getrag 260/5 and not interchangeable as it doesn't have a speedo drive provision. It's also the least-desirable of the 5-speed M30 transmissions. The speedo is electronically controlled by a sensor in the differential. The rear subframe can be used in an E3 with some minor adaptation and some way of lengthening the e-brake cables. Obviously with the spring setups the coupes have, this wouldn't be easy.

Car was manufactured 1/1983. Does this mean it's not worth the energy of removing the transmission?

Not for the transmission. The flywheel is worth about $150-200 to the right person. Same one used in the M5 and it weighs in right around 16 lbs. 1/83 has the better motor too. People disagree on whether the cam was changed but there's a definite difference in how they feel.

Either way, there probably isn't much on that car that could help you.

Good luck!

I believe the Jagermeister coupe had all the later rear suspension and differential installed :?::?:, maybe the owner may post what was involved with the swap even though it may not apply to street driven coupes. ~ John Buchtenkirch

I am positive of only 1 interchangeable part; you will find that the ash tray in the back seat is identical to the one in the rear seat of the coupe. I think the starter is interchangeable and some other misc. pieces like the shifter, trans mount, and the switches will work in the later coupes as well but they are all black and good for a spare only. I think the wheels will fit the coupe, but the toolbox is different unfortunately. I have heard that some people cut out the spare tire well because it's deeper than the stock coupe but I have not gone there. I need to check the brakes to see if the calipers are the same, might be worth rebuilding if that's the case.

If anyone knows what other things might work please tell us! I have a running 633 csi with no title and I would hate to have it towed to the junk yard.

Oh, and I think there are 2 different 5 speeds that came in the early 633's the Getrag 265 and another 5 speed- hope someone can enlighten us as to the worth of the "other" 5 speed and exactly what it is :-)

Thanks

I'm going to share a secret.....
There are two rubber disks or " blind plugs" in the hood of a 6er that fit exactly in the the two holes in the firewall of a coupe that are NLA........
