Hi
Do you anything about the BMW CS Registry. I have tried to log in and it says User registration is not enabled.
I can't find any way to access this site. or enter my info. I have tried all the usernames and passwords I have created for my BMW E9 and nothing.
Thanks, Brue S. Pierce in Maine

If you send your info and photos to me I'll add them to the registry.

Thanks,

Hi Dan
Got a reply from Scott saying I was added to the Registry, Thanks.
I also know the man who owned this 3.0 before me and he lives in Maine too.
My question still remains, Only registered users are allowed to post listings. Am I allowed to be a registered user or is that above my pay grade?
Thanks and I will abide by what is allowed

Hi Dan,

I have two E9's and I have been trying to list them on the registry, with no success.
When I respond to the 'Your BMW CS Registry account has been created' e-mail, will not work.
Please advise the best course of action.
Thank you,
Seán.

Hi all, I just purchased a coupe. It is already on the registry and listed under the prior owner. I guess it doesn’t matter much who it is listed under, but I tried to make an account and got the “registration not enabled” message.

Also, I’m curious if anybody has the numbers of how many cars on the registry are listed in “driving” condition. I totaled up the numbers of all listed cars and it’s 2900, or about 10% of the original 30k made. But that includes VINs that are listed for non-op cars and engines that have been swapped into other cars…

I sometimes make spreadsheets for fun hehe. Thinking about the rarity of the E9, I decided to look up a range of other contemporary "collector" cars. And it seems the coupes were rare even before rust began picking them off:

This is just looking at total numbers for a particular body style generation of cars, not focusing on rarer and more collectible special models like the CSL. Am I missing any "competing" collector cars from the 60s or 70s?

The Mercedes sedan and Pagoda are probably the most comparable, but they were produced in somewhat higher numbers. Ditto the Jag E-type and XJ, Porsche 911, and all contemporary American collector cars. You really have to look at exotic brands like Aston, Maserati, Ferrari to find models that were produced in significantly lower numbers (blue and purple on the chart). This highlights how few E9s there ever were, and makes me even more curious how many are in "driving" condition.

Nice list showing how few were made in comparison to cars like 911's or E-type's (high on my list when trying to decide how to spend my savings 15 users ago)

When looking at survivor rate; is it known how many were imported in the US? And does it make sense to cross check to Scott's list? (Overlooking grey imports, i know)

Our CS Registry has issues and few use it anymore, many of the vins were input by myself. Rsporsche has a more complete spreadsheet by model that is more current. My guess for US coupes is maybe 40%. No one knows for sure.
The data can be messy and hard to parse. My USA 2800cs coupe won't be part of the 2,953 as it wasn't imported by Hoffman. It was delivered to a company named J.B.S. in Frankfurt/Main, probably for delivery to a US citizen temporarily living in Germany. How it got here is unknown to me, so far.

I've seen a website that lets you search for how many of a certain model of car are currently registered in the UK, but since each state here has their own independent license bureau, there isn't a similar easy to search site to find the coupes currently registered in the US.
