Hello all!
I'm new to this forum!
A little bit about myself: I'm 22yo, have done some E30 restauration works that turned out well.
I decided that I wanted to go a little older so I bought an E3 3.0SI 1972.
restauration is going perfect, got the engine running yesterday for the first time in 10 years!
pictures will follow.
But as most people I need the rear window seal..
I had the one that's a bit bigger where the lower chrome bar is fitted in the metal of the car, but it was broken as well.

any chance someone can lead me to a good slim rubber for the rear window?
I'd prefer new, but if the condition is 'good' that might be a help untill I find a new one.
part number: 51311800471

Realy hope someone has a lead or can help me out!

Next to that, ho strong are these engines? should I replace the chain of this engine?

thanks in advance!

I would state that the chain is strong on the engine, but check for a worn cam gear. A worn cam gear would be a good indicator that the chain and gears are due for replacement and that the chain is likely stretched and/or worn.

Engines are very strong. Wards awarded the BMW M30 one of the ten best motors of the 20th Century. Change the oil regularly and they will easily go 250,000 miles. You can usually get a good idea of the engine condition from the condition of the inside of the valve cover.

Do you have a specific reason to be concerned about the timing chain?
