JFENG, my wife, Karen, was friends with George's daughter Mira who has taken over the studio and business. They met in Pittsburgh in the 70s and when we married and moved to Bucks County they reconnected. We celebrate Japanese New Year with Mira in the studio or the home George built for her in early January. If you are ever in the Bucks County area let me know.
George had a huge building where he stored hundreds, and I mean and I mean hundreds of slabs of trees he cut. Enough wood for a hundred Nakashimas to build furniture for the next fifty years. A gorgeous compound with a Ben Shan museum included.
Did you know of Philip Powell or Paul Evans or any of the other New Hope artisans. It was quite the town from the late 1900s and the Bucks County Impressionists to the mid-seventies when it began a sad transition into a tourist town.
