Yes this is true that’s why I do run them with compressed air and then pressure hot water to really get all the small bits , sandblasting is more dangerous on oil pans and valve covers where there is baffling pocketsNicely clean and fresh parts!
For th potential buyer: Take car of the sandblasted parts: even just a bit of grit stuck in there will ruin your engine.
Friend of mine had it, and it cost his 4500 euro for a new engine ~10 years ago.
This is the reasons why lot of pro shops use soda blasting for these parts; when soaked in water it just dissolves.
