Boot / trunk rubber question

I just bought a new boot rubber described as OEM - seems to have correct code on bag. Searching other threads ive seen pics of this as a continuous loop, whereas mine is a single length. Logic says it should be a loop - I can't see how a rubber glue would hold a join under tension.
Thoughts appreciated.

I installed an OEM one that was a continuous loop if it matters. Thinking the weatherstrip adhesive would work to fuse together.

YEA JUST START AT TOP CENTER AND ANCHOR WITH CLIP AND 3M WEATHERSTRIP
ADHESIVE
YOULL NEED TO STRETCH IT AS U GO THEN SET THE ENDS

My car has one like that--don't know if it was cut or original--never thought about it. It was coming loose, so I reapplied w 3M as Alan suggests. I dabbed some FlexSeal where they came together. Probably a better sealant out there, but it was on the shelf & has held an outdoor repair on rain barrel for 2 years.

Just looked at the one on W&N. If you blow it up and look on the top of the pic, it looks like a seam or a separation. Not enough resolution to tell for sure.
