Changing the brake fluid on my E12 (fluid that turns out to be ATE Blue that has to have been there since 2012!) and I just stripped the upper bleed screw on the front right caliper. ‍♂️. And I was so close!

Can someone tell me what the threads are on the bleeder screws so I can both get a new one and get the correct EZ Out?

Thanks. Unfortunately I subsequently found that the threads in the caliper are what got stripped, so I have to either Time-Sert the caliper I have to an M8 x 1.25, or find another one.

I figured I’d use a bottoming tap to punch it out one size, but I’ll go with whatever I can execute most easily and in the least time.

Bert, did you Helicoil it on the car or off? May sound funny, but I look at it and think, “the fluid leaking out will carry the tapping debris out”, LOL.

Unfortunately I lack a vacuum pump with a cap I can screw onto the reservoir to keep the fluid from leaking.

I was sort of amused to find that the car had ATE Super Blue in it, which meant the fluid had been there since 2012 when all the work was done on the car. (!)

So sad that the DOT insists on a specific color for the brake fluid. Alternating blue and gold was just plain logical.

I did it off the car as I was rebuilding the calipers when I found the problem. I think if you do it on the car, you will get some metal particles in the brake fluid. IIRC I used a 7mm hello coil I got them from McFadden Dale
