Hi Guys,

Question regarding brake fluid reservoirs for the 3.0CS with a manual trans. Has anyone tried using a fluid reservoir that mounts to the stock master cylinder, rather than using the OE detached version? If so, from which model BMW were you able to use?

Thanks in advance.

Don’t know that it is possible to do that. Early 2002 had reservoir on the master but a separate clutch reservoir.
The CS MC was not designed for an attached reservoir. It may be tough to find one you can adapt to it and fit in the space available. Plus it would be more trouble to check the level and to fill it, AND you would still have to rig up a remote reservoir for the clutch.

What problem are you looking to solve?

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. You all asked some great questions. I was mainly looking to reduce a little clutter and personally, I like the look of the attached reservoir. For the clutch, a lot of the later model BMW's have a 3rd compartment in them for the clutch. I believe that when you purchase a new reservoir for the later models BMW's they have the clutch hose outlet but they are plugged. I believe you either remove the plug or cut the end. Not sure as I have not purchased a new reservoir before.

I was mainly asking to see if anyone has done this before. It's a very low priority item for me.

Seems there are lot more things to cleanup in an engine compartment than just that.

Battery relocation?

AC muffler delete (go w/Sanden-like compressor).

E12 Early E24 reservoir will work with the appropriate master cylinder. Plug and play no mods needed as long as all of your hoses reach. Yes, the stem on the back will have to be clipped as it is made to work with either an auto or manual trans
