the reality of it is, it depends on the buyer ... most don't have a problem with the clear white one and won't pay 50 to 75 bucks ... unless you are building a concours CSL. then you have to have the black one. on a certain CSL, i think the owner paid 100 bucks for a very nice used black cap, but i feel certain that the seller had it sitting on a shelf for 10 years or so.

The float can be rejuvenated, I thought I put a post on it here somewhere. Rubber grommet removed, 25G needle inserted along the grommet tract to pull the accumulated fluid out of the float, touch of JB Weld over the pinpoint hole and replace the grommet.....presto. Good for the life of the current owner!

you can buy the new clear / white cap w/ sensor + float to go with the new clear / white reservoir - you just can't buy a new black cap with sensor + float ... UNLESS its a NLA / NOS purchase.
