When i hold the damper on the floor and pull up then at the top you hear that sound.
it gets much louder when they are mounted on the car.
i have tried all possibilities on the rubber mounts at the top.
the original ones that came with etc. nothing helps.

i think i have to change to something else because these are just lousy.
Anyone else who has had the same problem?

They are supposed to have bump stops inside.
Yes, some kind of damper inside the shock absorber so that that sound doesn't come.
That test where I hear the sound when testing on the floor and on the car?
I was happy when I bought them but now I'm disappointed, let's see if Bilstein support answers me.

They are only going to go to full extension when your wheel can go to full droop. If you are doing that in normal driving, you must have some pretty deep potholes or you need to stop jumping your car

Thanks, Rick

The shock absorbers are close to the upper position and it doesn't take big bumps before the sound comes.
So they are useless to drive with now compared to the Koni I had before.

It was my fault, I retract that Bilstein are bad.
I had too thick rubber above and below the spring so it was too long, and the sound came easily.
Here is the answer from Bilstein support, several of you had the right tips, yes.

(Dear Ingar,

Thank you for the email.

The BILSTEIN B6 shock absorbers are designed with OE-identical technical dimensions. It's therefore possible, to install these shock absorbers in combination with OE standard springs and OE identical springs.

In the linked video, it is possible to see, that you pull the shock absorber in the rebound up to the end stop. During normal usage, the suspension will keep within the free travel and never bounce to the rebound end stop. In the long term, this would lead to damage to the shock absorber or surrounding suspension components.

We kindly recommend, that you carry out the mounting and installation in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. Any other installation can cause noise and faults.

If the complaint is limited to our product, please contact your dealer / workshop with our product and the corresponding proof of purchase. He will contact us immediately to clarify your complaint.

Thank you in advance.)

Thanks for updating us with the Bilstein's answer!
It's nice to have questions with their solutions on the forum, instead of having a bunch of threads that remain unsolved, 'open-ended'.

i think the front sway bar will help to limit the wheel reaching full extension. Gravity helps as well.

Thank you Erik for reiterating how helpful it is to members to close he loop on questions that have been solved. I have been asking for this on the E24 forum often to no avail. We seem to have some E24 members who ask questions, get advice and give no follow up.
