Bumper mounted accessories

I have heard them called bumper guards, grille guards, bumper bars, light bars, badge bars, coffin handles and even crash bars. By any name, these aftermarket bumper accessories do not often appear on E9s and E3s which is why this pretty E9 caught my attention. Uncertain whether it is wearing a modified Amco product* or something specifically designed for the E9. Strikingly similarity to bars seen on Datsuns and Triumphs(below)

Unable to decide if they were a plus of a minus. They offered a handy place to secure things, including the dog's leash, and made for more secure placement of beer cans and towels. Front and rear bars also offered convenient handles for pushing and pulling. On the plus side they might provide some modest protection for that expensive grill and a place to attach auxiliary lighting and badges. Unfortunately, they also added to wind noise and when they got smacked, they often took the bumper with them.

Are others using a similar bar on an E9 or E3?

Anyone have a photo of this bar type (front or rear) mounted on an E9 or E3?

Lovely car mentioned in this post: http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18619

I am convinced I saw these type of accessories sold by a dealer, but they probably not a big seller.

Kinda reminds me of the handle bars on my Schwinn "Orange Picker" stingray bike when I was 13.

Seems Anco bars aren't too popular with the E9 crowd. My '73Tii has them front and back. They are period correct accessories.

Fugly and don't seem like they protect better than the stock over riders. Certainly didn't protect the nose on this car. Surprised Hyman didn't fix it before selling it.

I had the green one called the "Pea Picker" and I will never forget the day my parents gave it to me for my birthday. I was stunned. Had the ball-buster 5 speed on the rail and suspension front and rear. Heavy and slow but damn what a ride!

 Apple or Orange?

+1. Anyone caught installing these montrosities on the pretty chromed CS bumpers ought to have their hands cut off. :x

I guess I don't have to ask for opinions on those curb feelers/car whiskers found under the Christmas tree.

May guard against curb damage, but maybe not oxidation. All original?

Attribute these gratuitous postings to cabin fever. No personal knowledge.

Hey, no helmet, no warning stickers on the bike, no pad on the stick. How could they, with such precious cargo.....and yet we all survived to talk about it.
