i have a small oil leak coming from the plate behind the cam at the rear of the head.
i have notice in the blue book that it shows the bolt seal on the right hand side bolt, but for an E32 3.5 motor, which i have, the oem site shows it on the left hand side bolt ?
can anybody shed some light on this ?

My recently rebuilt engine (e32 3.5l, 1991) shows the sealing washer on the right. Here is a photo. I am not sure why it would show both ways.

Common errata in the manual and etk..

The seal goes on at the 3 o'clock position.
If you have a cam plate available you will see why it can only go there.
One of the main reasons you get leaks from there is from over-tightening those bolts- you will split the gasket.

Easiest way to get at it is to remove the fan and the tranny support and jack the bell housing up. I call that "bending the engine lol"
