Cap Rotor

Should be available most places. We all know your car a bit, are there really that many new miles that you need a cap and rotor?????

As Rob indicates, a cap and rotor should last at least 10,000 miles before even thinking about replacing them. I'm surprised your shop didn't ask about the availability of points which are normally replaced with the cap and rotor. A cap and rotor take 1 minute total to replace. Points, not so (at least for me). You get close with a feeler gauge then usually several small adjustments using a dwell meter. Once the dwell is set (and not before) the process of timing takes place. This is a very specific process for your car that is different than any other car I know of. There are several other steps in a tune up which are unique to your car (like adjusting and syncing the carbs). If your shop is not familiar with these cars and done several tune ups before successfully, I'd be wary.
