So, earlier this month,, I got word of a "Show and Shine" being put on by a BMW/Ducati Motorcycle dealer up here just outside Vancouver. I became interested when I saw that the sample photo used for the poster, was of a BMW 700. Hmmm, this looks promising, I thought to myself. Weather forecast was also positive. I registered and drove out. The organizers truly appreciate any Classic BMW product. They attracted a broad collection of older bikes and BMW automobiles : E28, E46, E39, E24 M6, some M5s, E30s, a 2002tii, and so on. The bikes were from 1959 on up. Impressive. The mix of old bike owners and old BMW car owners was, I think eclectic. Really stimulating and interesting conversation among BMW owners who truly appreciate that BMW Classic machines were all gathered in one place for the day, and we had a great time commiserating, sharing restoration stories, dining on very authentic "bratwurst' and otherwise enjoying music, new friendships and a casual atmosphere.
There was a Peoples Choice award for 2 classes only : Best Bike, Best Car.
When the ceremony was over I was fortunate to have been awarded the "Best BMW Car" award. So, as Bill Murray said in Caddyshack : " I got THAT going for me" !
