Carburetor plastic push rod length

Hey All, I am balancing my Zenith carbs and in the manual it states that the plastic
push rod should be 40mm from center to center. My question is does this apply to both carb 1 and 2? And does this apply to all year Zeniths (mine is a 72) very late carbs.

Yes, it is critical that they are same length, otherwise you will have sync issues.

I would get them as close to spec as possible to avoid other issues with throttle butterflies, linkage etc. Just pop them off and get them as close to 40mm as you can, but definitely both the same length. 40mm will eliminate having to chase related synching gremlins.
