My carpet when I bought the car was the nylon loop World Upholstery Saddle-a brown /gold color close to the color of the seats and door panels. It was discolored in the rear passenger floor and not very nice looking on the driver's side. Jasper color Coco mats covered that problem. When the dash and console were all apart this summer,I wanted the driver's seat bottom built up so the seat was removed for work. Then the passenger seat was removed and it was time to replace the carpet. I always liked the German square weave carpet pattern in the 356 Porsches.
GAHH had the square weave in a nice taupe brown available. Since Doug, @DWMBMW had the GAHH in his car, I knew he could give me good advice on their product.
As it turned out, the piece that goes up against the driver-side kick panel was completely wrong in the kit they sent me. There were other pieces that needed to be custom-made since my battery cable is running under the carpet to the trunk. GAHH was very cooperative in making the other pieces once I figured out a template for them.
David Masi and my friend at Shamrock Auto trim helped with the installation using 3M # 08088 spray adhesive bought at Discount Auto.
I stripped out the panels & rear seats and applied some Dynomat-type insulation before the jute was laid down before the carpet was glued to the floor and jute. David even had the OEM snaps for the carpet.
The saddle-colored carpet was poorly installed and missing in several places. I even found some brown nylon loop OEM carpet under the saddle carpet. The 2 most interesting finds were a long red-handle screwdriver under the passenger seat and a child's seatbelt bolted long ago across the rear center armrest!
The entire project turned out nice with the finishing touch being the Palomino color Sisal mats from Cocomat.com.

Only thing I ever found in my coupe was a German mark behind the back seat and yes, a puzzle piece behind the dash once it was removed, as a reminder of what removing the dash really is.

My red small screwdriver was taken during a car show in 2012 from my Bavaria, I think I know where yours came from...want me to describe it to you?
