you know, when you have a car that there were a huge quantity of them built ... and good cars, with average engines for when they were built ... they would be considered slow / ordinary today. some might be high mileage and never going to be a concours example, then it kinda makes sense to do something that breathes a lot of life / performance into. an e30 with a s52 motor is a significant improvement. and e21 with a s52 would be pretty cool too. i just hate it when i see an e30 m3 with a swap or think of an Alpina with a swap - kill the rare car. okay so maybe you increase the performance, but over the long haul, you will lose the value war.
when you think about the aston martin and the LS3 ... why? new astons come with kick ass mercedes engines - think of the lotus emira with the 4 cylinder merc engine producing over 400 hp in a small car. those are interesting ... an LS3??? straight line speed maybe, but they are heavy.
