Chris sent this PM to me today...

Dick,

Marnie, a lady on Gabriola Island near Vancouver Island bought the coupe. Do you have any experience to share about importing a car to Canada, I know this is backwards! She wants to drive it home in January but I warned her about snow on the 5, maybe the coast route will work for her, she is certainly adventurous to say the least! Owned a coupe many years ago and towed a small trailer with her windsurfer boards and raced motorcycles. Thanks,

Chris

(you can share this on the Forum if you like, I’m just not posting yet)

If I remember right, there is a waiting period before the car can get into the country but if the paper work has been sent in, there should be just the some duty and taxes will have to be paid. Once into the country, it has to be inspected for an out of country inspection, lot;s of people that can do that

Thanks, Rick

@sfdon has my E23 in work currently... and I am looking to drive it north to Seattle when finished.
Current estimates on when are... Who knows when, but it could be in January or Feb.
I have the same quandary as to driving up I-5 in the winter. I have driven this route many times. Both in summer and in winter to be with family in Monterey during the Christmas and other holidays.

The passes on I-5 can be difficult. Or a breeze... Conditions change very quickly.
As a result - If things are 'normal' sketchy, I am thinking of taking 101 up the coast to the middle of Oregon then cutting over to I-5 near Eugene and then continuing north from there.
Not to say that that means I-5 is guaranteed north of Eugene either...

As a fallback - I may have the car shipped. LOL Who knows.
Driving this route just a few weeks ago reminded me how nice the drive can be - and how those same mountains can bite you as well.
Good luck - Feel free to message me for any questions on driving this in winter.
