Chrome pieces for wood 2800cs steering wheel

$40 ($30 for the part + $10 for shipping) for ONE of the little trim pieces seems kind of dear, but where else are you going to find them? I wonder how he makes them? Machining, casting, printing? Given the complexity of the shape, the cost of plating, the low volume, ... he probably isn't getting rich at $30 apiece.

And there is the catch 22. I am looking at making these and bet that $30.00 was a good price each. My guy has yet to get back with me so I do not know what I would charge but $30.00 would be my hope.
 
For something you'll constantly notice while behind the wheel, $30 seems more than reasonable if the quality is good.
 
weren't they satin silver on the wood wheels?

Are the chrome bits for the metal leather-wrapped?
 
I have a 'spare' wood wheel with the horn actuators in the three spokes. It only has one metal piece between the spoke and the wood - it is chrome.

Contemplating buying two from the eBay vendor. But - since none of the rear side are present, I'll need 2 fronts and 3 rears at $30 plus shipping. Haven't bit the bullet YET! The Nardi wheel that was on the car when I bought it is in perfect condition, and nice looking/feel.

To see that wheel each time you get in and to feel that divot when you drive.... Only thing is, if anyone non-forum related asks, I would say "a few bucks". Nobody but us would understand.
 
Perhaps the impression is that we have money to burn in the U.S., or at least BMW owners do. For that price get out the gum.
 
OK guys, I take responsibility for this. At $30 each, plus $10 each for shipping, the price for 6 was $240. I sent a message via eBay that I'd buy a full set of 6 of these for $150, plus $10 total shipping charges. After a couple of responses, in which I was firm at the price/shipping, he replied that he would re-list them in this manner. I did place the order for 6 (I need 5, but wanted to be sure the top three all matched).

Actually, that seems like a better business model for the seller. Just offer them as a package of six, and don't try to sell them onesy twosy. The gloss on the satin finish of the new parts probably wouldn't match our nicked-up 45 year old parts, so restorers are better off replacing all of them (or at least the top 3).
