You may want to check these guys: http://www.decometalfinishing.com/
I just went there to have the belt trim for my coupe re-finished about 1 week ago and asked to see their facility. They have extensive plating capacity and can plate anything from powder to gold to chrome. I saw many automtotive parts being prepared for chrome plating. All had been through copper plating prior, which is what you want. Passing through the shipping area I saw several orders from out of state and Canada waiting for pick up. They're Good Guys "approved". They have 3 shops: San Diego, Las Vegas and Portland, OR.

Thanks for the tip. What were they doing to you pieces and how did it turn out?

They are polishing my belt trim to a mirror finish and then will apply a clear coat. They told me 2-3 weeks to complete the job, so I should get the pieces back in the next few days. I will let you know how they come out.

I was quoted $380 for all 7 pieces. This includes sanding out the top layer, polishing, buffing and the final clear coat. Note that my trim is in very good shape with only surface scratches. So, no deep scratches or grooves to repair, etc... This may add to the cost.
The quote I got is very close to what HB Chris reported paying to a metal finisher in his area: http://e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11263
Let us know what they charge on the East Coast.

Any chrome pieces? Specifically, bumpers.
Will you be at The Vintage next week?

I used Faith Plating in Los Angeles. I bought their mid-level service which has a very deep look to it, but isnt quite Pebble Beach quality (although they do offer that too).

I think I paid about $150 to $200 per individual piece. (ie, three part bumper is about $600). Took them a week. About a year later it is holding up nicely.

So, I picked up my trim from Deco Metal Finishing yesterday. They did a pretty good job. If new is a 10, I'd give them a nine. The pieces are all back to a mirror finish, nicely wrapped in plastic sleeves. The 3 weeks wait seems a bit on the high side to me, though.

Three weeks isn't unreasonable. I'd worry about a shop that has so few other customers that they turn work around within days. If they didn't lose any parts, and you are pleased with the quality, I'd call the operation a success.
