Santa brought me a new clam shell toolbox for Christmas; I can't believe she spent that much on me.

Now I'm selling my old 'restored' one.

The original toolbox for my coupe was in pieces when I bought the car, so I picked this one up on Ebay a few years ago for $150.00. It was a big improvement but was missing one of tabs by the screw lock. I finally redid it (and my trunk area) last spring before I found out that BMW was going to reproduce them in small numbers. It turned out very nice. I re-inforced the broken tab area with thin plastic and then reformed the tab and screw hole. I then prepped it and painted it the correct 'Storm Grey' color. I also replaced the thin styrofoam padding on the inside of the lid and replaced the turn screw with the correct chrome one. The original foam tool holder is in good shape.

I had it open at a couple of car shows last summer and I received a lot of positive comments on it. Just another cool feature on our cars.

I am asking $150.00 for it but am open to offers.

Thanks,
Vince

A bargain

At $150.00
Pack the heck out of it when shipping!
I have one that I am selling but it is not finished. I am reinforcing the screw holes and then will paint. Stay tuned! ;)

Vince, sorry to hijack but can you remind me where the thin foam can be purchased?

New OEM BMW tool kit installed

One of the winter projects on my coupe was installing a new OEM BMW E9 clam-shell tool kits.

The quality is great, and the material used for the tools seems to be much more durable... but perhaps in 30 years it will deteriorate like the last one I had.

Hi there Len! Hope you are great, happy belated new year :-)

The blue leather sliced item in my tool kit is a recent purchase from my visit to the Alpina headquarters in Buchloe Germany.... Last month. I went to Mecca, the Vatican, Jerusalem, whatever analogy hits your fancy but this is home for Alpina and I came home with several souvenirs (for me and for the coupe, ok all for me).
