Early cars had a ball stud between the clutch slave and throwout bearing that the clutch fork pivots on, the stud is mounted on the trans input shaft housing and extends through a hole in the bell housing. Anyone know off the top of your head if that stud is press-fit into the input shaft housing/cover, or is it threaded?

I just looked up videos, for every other getrag, the ball is press fit. its suggested to use a slide hammer with a fork end.

I think you surmised I want that off so that I can use a late fork and late slave cylinder, I don't think I have a fork end for the slide hammer but Harbor Freight opened a store in my town a few months ago, thanks very much for prompting my failed brain cells!
