Clutch release arm travel

Hi all,
I've just had my clutch hydraulics apart to replace a leaking master cylinder. A more straight forward job than I was anticipating as all the pipe unions came apart with zero struggle (after a couple of days of plusgas!) I also replaced the flexi-hose to the slave also whilst the system was apart = a no-brainer.

I had heard that the system was difficult to bleed so I spent a lot of time on this, and managed to pressure/ gravity bleed it both ways (ie from the reservoir down and from the slave bleed nipple up) which *seems* to have done the trick ok. I did some research on the release arm travel, as a way of proving to myself that I had successfully 100% bled the system out, and I'm sure I found a measurement either in my E12 Haynes book, or in my Chiltons BMW Coupes book, but now I can't see it, think I must have been mistaken.

so, does anyone know what the travel on the clutch release arm should be? ie how far should the arm move when my lovely assistant fully presses the clutch pedal in?

I had to refresh myself on what I was doing then. Thanks for your efforts and your recall!

what I was after was a measurement of the clutch release arm movement rather than that of the clutch pedal itself. I have a slight crunch on engaging reverse which could possibly be clutch drag (ie the release arm not moving quite far enough to fully disengage the clutch, and so the 'box input shaft doesn't quite come to a full stop). It could also be a sticky spigot bearing, or.....?

My plan for this winter just gone was to drop the 'box and look at/ swap the bearing (and get the 'box rebuilt with new synchros), but it took me a while to find an engine support beam and trans jack. I now have the tools and will do this next winter
