Car failed to sell at Monterey for 180k.
Now we know he is after 210k.
Car listed in Hemmings now.
Has a lot if original finishes on the inside. Car had been painted silver by PO, so he had to paint it again to get it back to orange. Too bad about incorrect engine.
180k is pretty strong for a car that has lost its original engine.

I just finished reading the ad for the third time....

sometimes somethings just don't make sense.

Well- no it wasn't really. There is an engine missing.

Maybe it's on top of the tree going through the roof of the car.

Must be that horizontal bump in the carpet in image # 11. Just imagine how hot the air the would be in the duct right above the exhaust.
 
And it looks like some kind of vent in the rear footwell in image 9?

Why would the rear passenger area need a special vent in a CSL? I guess because the windows don't open?

Those carbs are begging for some nice trumpets!

Oh, air from the footwell does not mess up your hairdo.
Plus a longer air path below the car reduces the lift.
 
If someone found the original engine and put it in a "tribute" CSL would it be worth 200K?

From everything I've read on the forum <200K is reserved for unmolested, low milage LHD CSL's

BTW, does anyone know where I can get an aluminum hood, 2 aluminum doors and an aluminum trunk lid? :-)
 
I'd have liked to see a bit greater attention to detail getting the Polaris off of things like the Karmann tag and the dome light switch.

Picking nits, I'm sure, which is easy to do since I can't afford it. I love those early cars.
 
nice fuel filter/hose/brass lowes fittings/air filters etc...

for that $ why not a varta battery or at least one the correct size,

And seriously without the correct engine/carbs so much $?

With the extent of work that was done to bring the car back to it's original color, why did they leave the front bumper holes in the body? IMO, he should have taken the $180k and ran. With at least a non matching block (most heads have been replaced), the car is worth far less than his highest bid.
