Complete E9/E3 Toolkit on BAT

pretty tasty, will be interesting to see, when else are you going to get an NOS clamshell and tools in one shot?

Have "we" Jumped the shark much, boys?

I'm trying to sell my fully Dinan equipped 2001 3.0 X5 for what these Alpina wheels went for. And I'm the original, always in the garage owner! Guess I better get a set of red handled screwdrivers to put in the glove box.....

And to think I sold a set of fully refurbished open lug 16“ staggered Alpinas for £800. a couple of years ago. Doh.

Am I the only one that noticed that the 8/10 double open end is supposed to be a 10/11? It's pretty evident that it's too short for the slot it's in when you look at pic #3. It's even more glaring in the pics from the previous auction. My E3 kit doesn't have an 8/10 open end so I don't think that wrench is original and I'm guessing the correct wrench is missing.

Additionally, the red handled screwdrivers either come with a fluted ridge at the end of the handle where it meets the metal shaft, or it's smooth. Both screwdrivers in my E3 are fluted and the kit in my E28 M5 has smooth barreled screwdrivers. The BaT kit had one of each and my guess is the small screwdriver in this auction never came in an E3/E9.

Nit picking? Sure, I wasn't going to risk blowing up the auction over it since I wasn't 100% sure of either of my observations, and it was a nice kit regardless. However, what's the consensus? Should I have asked those two questions and potentially cast shade on the auction or was it right to keep my mouth shut since I wasn't a bidder?

The small screwdriver also came with a metal clip or white plastic where the blade inserts. It’s not clear when this changed and could still be correct, these toolkits were made from 1968 through 1975 in the e3 and e9 after-all. Your observation on the open end wrench is correct.

Chris i was under the impression that the change to the plastic insert happened in the e12 / early e24 time frame. i don't remember if my e28 had red screwdrivers.
