Just wondering who has done this, how you felt about it and what are the steering box options for the E9? Years ago I converted my Bavaria from manual to power steering. Sadly, I Can't remember if I liked it more after.

I've done a few conversions
I thought it was a bit of a waste of effort for a street car.

When you did the conversions Don, where did you source the steering box? Did any US spec cars come with them?

I had no power steering on my '69 2500. It was unpleasant in town traffic, low speeds, parking lots. I was picking up the bits to put in PS but never got around to it, sold the car.
I wouldn't go there again. Makes you prefer the big "bus wheel" those cars came with, for the leverage you'll need.

It's a lot of work for saving about 50lbs.....
Had a manual box in hand (from an early E3) and decided to pass on project after driving a friend's manual coupe around town. Very labor intensive.

Found no issues with power steering on track/racing and power steering is very user friendly for daily use.

Just my 2 cents.
