See my separate detailed reply with questions to heater bypass thread started by the hackmechanic. I need to verify which direction the coolant flows in/out of heater core in a 2800cs with zenith carbs.

On the 2800 a hose goes from back of cylinder head to bottom connection of the heater core. A second hose come from the top connection on heater core to the bottom of the rear carb base.

Does the flow come from the back of the cylinder head in/out the core then to the carb base or is it the other way around with the flow coming though base of carb in/out of core and into rear of cylinder head?

Which is it?

Thanks

Got answer to the flow direction.

Talked with a BMW specialist on CS cars and the flow comes out of the rear of the engine into the heater core and then out of the core into the carburetor. So when installing a bypass valve the input to the valve will come from the rear of the engine.

I suppose one could figure it out looking at the water pump and thermostat housing, but the we stared at it the more confused we got. Also makes sense in that the block and head would want the cooler water first, and the warmed water then goes into the heater.

Thanks and I will update the detailed post on the valve as well.
