E9ers -

I have found parts from a 72 and 74 E9 that I need for my 73 E9.

These include exterior trim, door handles, etc.

Apart from the bumper change in 74, are all of the other cosmetic exterior parts the same? Are they interchangeable between these model years?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I can't think of anything that would be different other than the 74 having a black kidney grille and black wipers. A few differences in the interior like seat belts, steering column, horizontal dash rail trim, console trim.

I have a '74. I wish I had a dollar for every dollar I wasted on non-'74 parts that didn't work on a '74.

I don't know about the parts you mention, but I wouldn't count on them being exact. Might try pinging Carl or Peter to see if they can give you a solid answer.

I believe the '72, '73 and '74 front bummpers are all different from each other. IIRC, U.S. bumper regs. were phased in, with none in 1972, regs. for the front-only in 1973, and regs. for the front and rear in 1974. This transition can best be seen in the Corvette, as the 1973 model had soft bumpers in the front and chrome in the rear.

'72 US Bumpers

Front and rear bumpers were changed mid-year on '72 US models, at chassis 2240391, 2250319. Blades look similar to previous models but extended further from car; only center front piece carried over. I believe US bumpers from mid '72 through '73 models should be same.

Correction...

In searching past threads on the model year subject, Chris M put the 72/73 US break at 2240391, 2250319. I based my comments on other sources, but he's obviously researched this thoroughly, so I'll agree that US bumper changes concurred with the '73 model year change, not during the '72 model run.

Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have any information on Jochen Rindt's car
