<edit 8-21-24 - the original file has been deleted ... please see post 3 of this thread and you will find the new pdfs>

okay, this is the next post regarding 3.0 CS in the coupe ancestry project ... we will be following with the 3.0 CSA (USA) separately.
If you own a 3.0 CS, please look at the lists to find your VIN in one of the sections (seen in ads / no recent information / latest information / recently verified / gone forever.
if you find your VIN, but something is wrong with the location / color ... or if your coupe is resting in peace (no longer with us) ... please drop me a line or add a post to this thread. If your VIN isn't on this list, or if the date precedes your ownership / location is different, please send me a PM and we will add you to the list. Please notice that we only have info on 572 of the 2557 - USA 3.0 CS ... we would like to know more. If you know of a 3.0 CS that is no longer with us, please let me know that. Please see the attached pdf.

here are our objectives - to find out all we know about
VIN (still living / on the road, gone forever / parts cars)
Color
Location (general, at most city / region + country)

what we aren't trying to ascertain - how original / what changes / restored or not ... if you want to provide any other info, we will keep it in the spreadsheet.
what we aren't going to do - we will NOT distribute or publish any information regarding owner, specific location.

There are 5 sections to this VIN post
1. cars that have been listed for sale at some point (auction or website)
2. cars with no verified or recent information
3. cars with the most recent information (dated) - last known country and last known color
4. cars with recently verified information (nothing else needed - this is a small list)
5. cars that are gone forever

THANKS for your participation
scott

thanks Steve, i have the old Malaga coupe in there, and know that you owned it. Michael Brown owned it after you, then went to an artist in Corpus Christi ... and ends in whereabouts unknown.

okay time for the 3.0 CSA and an update to the 3.0 CS

1st - i have reorganized the files placing the recently verified cars at the top of the sheet (under the orange banner), followed by the most recently known cars with some information (generally between 2009 and 2020) ... so if you don't find your car in the recently verified section, look in the one with the green banner. the next section are cars that have been publicly sold (BaT, Hemmings, ebay, etc.), if you haven't found your car or you have recently purchased your car ... you might try the section under the blue banner, if you have had no luck finding your car ... try the tan banner. these are cars that we have very little information on, but they have been known to exist in the 80s + 90s as part of the CS Registry or simply cars that had owners that were never part of 'CCA, the CS registry or e9coupe. the very last section is about cars that are either gone forever, or became parts cars ... i did find one of the parts cars that ended up being sold on BaT. if you have looked and simply cannot find your car - just send me information and we will add you in the next update.

most of all, if you have any information on previous owners, or you don't believe that we have you associated with your coupe ... please drop me a line. if you want to know what info i have on your car, feel free to ask, i will be glad to share.

i also want to thank the handful of people who have reached out and provided some good information.
thanks
scott

okay - i have downloaded all of the previous information and deleted the previous posts ... other than the pertinent information. so those of you that haven't please drop me a line. if you know of other USA 3.0 cs (any condition), would like to know that too. we currently know of 1020 USA cs / csa out of a total 2557 ... or 39.89%

we only have 64 verified owners (28 of which are officially confirmed).
there are 232 of which we are pretty confident of knowing where they are
there are 215 that we know have sold
there are 469 that we have seen at some point - most are old sitings ... current condition / location unknown
there are 40 that we think are gone forever / parts cars ... this number is probably way low

I thought that I previously re-added my car to the "new" registry, but I obviously did not. My recent thread here on my flood/debris issue jogged my memory, so here's my registry entry:

thanks - i had you in the project, but moved you from 'latest info' to 'recently verified' ... so that is great info - THANKS

many thanks Bill, i did have you listed, but the last date i had was 1986 ... so i am happy to have you moved to the 'recently verified' section

I have 2240344, not on your list. 1972 3.0 CS. Originally Fjord, repainted black, by some PO, but otherwise untouched (other than door panel speaker holes). Bought in Arroyo Grande, CA in 2006. Waiting to be restored in Petaluma, CA

edit 31 Oct, 2024: car remains with my friend for a while longer... he wasn't quite ready to pass the torch.

i just bought 4310143 from a close friend. he purchased it in ~1986, from a client of the shop he managed since 1978, and has seldom driven it since the early 2000s.

3/74 3.0cs, 4-speed
Fjord over Marineblau leder
dealer sourced replacement 3.0 long block in ~1986, rebuilt Zenith carburetors
very stock, save for a set of Bilsteins and some Enkei 92 wheels
i believe it to have been a local Portland, OR car for the majority of it's life.

goal is to awaken it from it's slumber, perform any and all overdue maintenance and enjoy a good, driver quality e9. :)

thanks for keeping the registry active!

so you purchased it from Craig Cook? i show him owning it in 1990. i don't anything about its prior life (yet). if you run across any old paperwork with names on it, please let me know.

correct, Craig is a very close friend of mine.

all i know about it's history is that the former owner (before Craig) took the car on to collect a debt from someone, and upon taking possession of the car, the engine was no good - after paying Craig's shop to replace the engine with a factory BMW replacement, and make the car "sellable", the client offered it to him very reasonably, and he purchased it.

if there is any chance you can get who that was before Craig ... that would be another puzzle piece for the coupe ancestry project. i had Craig from the 9/1990 issue of the CS Register ... but i haven't found anything before that date on this VIN

Hi..so I am catching up on looking at the site. I'm pretty bad with using the forum. I have 4310241. It's a74 CS. Located in Saratoga Springs NY 12866
Fjord with a 5 speed. Running and driving every year since I have had it, which is somewhere around 7 or 8 years now I believe. I bought the car from
a restoration shop in Springfield, MA, JE Robinson Services. From what I was told about the car the PO was Rolls and Bentley guy. The CS was his only
car that wasn't one of those brands. I did register back in 2020 on the site, but I don't see it listed on you PDF. Please ad Slicktop to your list.

thanks - you are added to the project and we didn't have your VIN on the list. @Storage Andy if you know of any of the previous owners / where your coupe lived before, that would be helpful information to add in

I have to see what I can find.. I don't think that I ever saw the PO's name...it was an interesting deal with a very well known shop..all though not a BMW shop..my understanding is the car lived in NJ and belonged to a man that had RR and Bentley's. Slicktop was the stepchild ..
