I had to chuckle when I saw the first picture. The "KEEP OUT" sign was not what I would have expected to see in Japan. LOL Times are a changin I guess.... Thanks for sharing

I haven't been here since the summer of '17, and I can definitely say there's a lot more reprehensible behavior from other visitors. The two groups drawing the most ire are the Australians and Chinese. In fact, as I was leaving the museum, a group of Chinese had their hands all over a car. It was just some 1970s Lincoln Continental in albeit poor condition, but still. No touching. Australians are drinking too much, don't learn any Japanese phrases to make people's lives easier, just being a nuisance but they really can't be seen outside of 2-3 cities and the ski areas.

Like really, no kidding, the behavior is bad. Think people hacking up phlegm and spitting on the carpet bad. Think harassing women wearing kimono. Some areas have a Duval Street or Bourbon Street atmosphere now, namely in the Kansai region. I could go on. But yes times are changing. As they always are.
 
I've finally come across the photos I've archived that were saved from the web of the remaining stainless steel 2800CS. Three were built, one crashed, one was sold and is unknown, this one is rests in the Deutsches Museum.
I'm posting them here in the photos section so they might be easier to find. Click on the thumbnails for bigger versions.
I included the 1937 Ford Model 68 Deluxe, 1 of 6 built, for comparison. BMW wasn't the first to try a stainless steel body.

Translation of the display notes;

In 1969, three test vehicles of the type 2800 CS with stainless steel bodies were built on behalf of BMW. The bodies were built at Karmann in Rheine, in close cooperation with Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (DEW), later part of Thyssen. The material used was Remanit, a standardized, stainless steel. With this project, BMW wanted to demonstrate that the stainless steel used could be processed with conventional tools and also proved its worth in combination with normal steel parts.
