in doing some parts research, i checked on w+n / realoem on radiator parts numbers and what cars they cross reference to. I was curious after reading HBChris' post that he had a new e24 radiator that he thought was the same as the coupe.

w+n lists a radiator for manual tranny + AC as part number - 17111121295
realoem lists that part number for the e12 / e9 from 4/71 to 11/75 / e24 / e3 ... but it doesn't show up on the e9 listings

realoem lists a tropical version of the radiator for the 2800cs as 17111109661
realoem list a regular version of the radiator for the 2800cs and 3.0cs as 17111102866
realoem lists a tropical version of the radiator for the 3.0cs as 17111109661 but notes that it is NLA
realoem lists a radiator for a 3.0cs with AC as having a shroud 17111115083 - but of course we know its NLA

more interesting information - radiator 17111121295 has a drain plug that will hold a temperature switch for the AC cooling fan that does not show up on the imagery of the xx661 radiator

Tropical radiator? Uses Bacardi Rum instead of glycol coolant?
 
The only one I want has to have a spot for the temp sensor on the bottom
 
completely agree Don ... gotta have it. many newer design radiators have two plugs there, one for a drain, the other for the sensor.
 
Pretty messy but the temperature switch and upgraded auxiliary fan and new version of radiator are all showing on etk

I use the e21 sender instead.

That resistor is for 2 speed aux fan operation. Low for ac and semi hot Engine and high for really hot engine.
I use a 81* sender to avoid the problem
 
I spoke to Jim at Mesa Performance this morning. The radiator I bought was for the 3.0Si and euro 633CS, part # 71 11 1 111 638, it has the lower temp sensor fitting. He can sell them for $350 plus shipping. The 121 295 rad lists for $720 and appears to be available online for around $600. We don’t know what the differences are between these two.

My coupe still has its original automatic radiator which has been cleaned and it never goes above 3:30 on the gauge and that includes driving down the 101 through Paso Robles in summer when it is 95 out. Yes, I will install the 633 manual radiator as it will look cleaner and I have the correct bracket. Bottom line, if you take care of the entire cooling system you shouldn’t need three row cores and shrouds, at least not in my experience over the last 13 years 50K miles.
 
i presume you splattered the first 2 numbers - 17 11 1 111 638. it doesn't show up on realoem, it recognizes it and brings you to the right page but doesn't show it. i checked on W+N and it does show up for 275 euro ($338 +/-). W+N notes it for a 633csi / 635csi w/ manual tranny / no cat. both beat the hell out of a $435 radiator from w+n (xx295 model)

will Jim tell you who manufactured the radiator? is it a BMW radiator or an aftermarket / oem radiator. bottom line, Jim's price is excellent. i haven't found anybody else in the USA with that part number
