coupe spotting: Denver C&C

That was me. My friend with another coupe was there too.
Great gathering, several hundred cars. Should be even bigger this Saturday.

Nothing wrong with my spindles.

That's the effect of caster on camber at the wheel. As the steering is turned, the outside wheels go more negative on camber and the inner wheels go more positive. BMW's seem to have high caster, perhaps 8 or 9 degrees, so it makes for some extreme camber change at high steering angles.

This effect can be used to align the car at home if you have adjustable top plates. Once camber is matched side to side, you turn the car left to right and measure the camber change. Once that is equal on both sides at identical steering angles, you have matched the caster as well side to side. Matching the caster does wonders for steering feel and straight line stability.

Anyway, this is 1.5 degrees negative camber and some lock-

thanks steve - yea, the lucas looked like they were always cold or excited (i could never tell the difference). actually, i wanted them to be a simpler design, without a bunch of chrome bits, and smaller than the flanking high/lows so i went with cibie tangos.

Was there an 88 M5 there called "Lucifer's Hammer" ?

Nice coupes guys.

I remember the threads a few years ago about this car, but I had to google it to remind me of the details - it looks like the posts were (mostly) deleted.
I haven't seen it but then I haven't been here for very long.
