Sorry for the delay guys.....Lets pick up where we left off....
I am now cruising along on the expressway, with a very important passenger in tow....our final destination: back to campus.....
All the windows were rolled down and the 'whish' sound from the wind was quelling any awkward silence, the music was playing low in the background--just in case.
From the corner of my eye, I had just caught her stroking the headliner and probably thinking to herself: 'this is in great shape for its age.....' I was comfortable, and so was she....she had a very proud look on her face.....
Just before the exit, our expressway becomes a bridge overlooking the lake with slight 'uphill.' The cd changer had just 'hopped' discs and with the sound of a 'click'...... 'I believe in a thing called love' switched on....I thought 'what a perfect song' and pushed the coupe harder into the road. Every few seconds it (coupe) would 'hit' expansion joints on the asphalt and 'dig' in....
It's rebound was superb and smooth--the added weight of the passenger gave the suspension a perfect balance. It (the coupe) was on it's best behavior and all three of us were learning a thing or two during this short drive.
We had reached the exit and I hung a 'right' down towards our final destination. We pulled up to the major corner in front of campus....she thanked me for the ride and stepped out of the car. She slammed the door shut with a 'Thud' and hesitated, as if she was/wanted to be connected to the coupe--I knew the feeling....
I swung the big six down through campus, for a 'victory lap' of sorts before pulling back into my parking spot.
The take away? No, I didn't get the girl...but I learned that when a car transforms a ordinary Tuesday drive into a memory, then its a keeper.
Thanks for following along guys, and I hope I didn't disappoint.
