I know I am not the only one with this spoiler/bumper combo. What are people doing to make the bumper fit. The bumper has a curve built into it where it bolts to the body. The spoiler makes that part straight so the bumper does not fit the contour of the car. Do you trim the bumper? I would hate to do that on a perfect bumper?

Spoiler Bumper Combo

Different style spoiler than what I used (635 style) I spent innumerable hours test fitting and of course ran into the same problem. I ended up notching the glass to the shape of the bumper end. This was all prior to paint. I see that you have already painted...rats.

Front Bumper with Spoiler.

If your interested, it is only the lowwer edge of the bumper on each end that is the problem. If you check it out you should find the outer end of the lower edge protrudes out further. I ground this area off to suit the spoiler. I did have my bumpers re-chromed but if you were careful you could just paint the bare metal edge and re-chrome later. The plastic/rubber end trims still fit on the bumper between it and the spoiler. My end look is perfect.

Like Pamp, I have the 635 style spoiler. I had to notch mine and make several mods to make it fit right with the bumper. Pamp was a great help through the process.

My pleasure Vince. You did a fine job that requires quite a bit of patience.
Of note, when I was at the Lyon Museum meet in SoCal this spring with the "blumax", a fellow there also used the 635 spoiler on his car. A nice additional touch was that he installed black diamond mesh behind the dam openings, much like you see a various late model cars. I have forgotten this fellow's name...If you are following this, I would love to no what material was used, attachment method, etc. This photo doesn't show it, but this is the car I am referring to...in the foreground...lots of body mods to include various CSL style bits, cool.

Jeez what a pain to be "p.c." Hopefully by renaming this will now work. "Meet" is in the title now, not to be confused with "meat" or the other offensive word I used that describes a chicken of the male variety.

Not to steal a thread, but I have 2 immaculate 635 euro front spoilers. No cracks, breaks or repairs. They will need paint of course. These are the early spoilers without the fog light cut outs. PM me if interested

Is that a fjord coupe with a red (burgundy) interior? How cool! My favorite exterior color is still fjord but red is now my favorite interior color for our cars (thanks to Stan and Alvin). After adding the fuel injection this last spring, I thought I was was finished with my coupe. Maybe one more project- Hmmm??

Any more pictures of that car??

You can not imagine how much work is involved to adapt the 635 airdam to an E9. To start with the 6er airdam is mounted to the bumper, a very different bumper from the E9, and its wider and the wrong shape for an E9. The one I sell cost me a significant amount of money to adapt to the E9 and it is specific to the E9, will not fit a 635. Paul Cain I believe did the original adaptation of one to an E9, but his mounted to his car;s bumper. Mine attaches to the front valence and can thus be used with or without the front bumper. If you try adapting one of these 6er airdams to your E9, all I can say is good luck. Lotta work to save about $200.

As for fitting the bumper over an airdam, there are other ways to do it, the front bumper is in three pieces and once off you can loosen the joints between the middle and ends and you will be surprised how wide they can be made within the original parts tolerances. Just grinding a small amount from the underside of the ends will make it clear as well and not be visible. Or notch the airdam itseld, they will all work. IMO, looks a lot better without a bumper. Anyone who purchases my fiberglass parts are welcome to contact me for help and advice, glad to help.
