CSi in Newport Beach

I think I just saw a year old auction of this and it sold for around 62K....

It was listed as a '73, but then corrected as a 72 CSi...maybe someone can post the auction results here, I may have the link handy...

Interesting that the relays appear and disappear in the pics.
Haha.

For that kind of money, they could have bought the $15 correct washer hose split under the hood....and left off all of the extra stereo equipment....Oh, and how "rare" is it to paint a car Inka Orange??? Does it cost more than other paint colors.....if it was an original Inka car, then whatever, but if repainted a different color, then an additional originality mistake....there is nothing wrong with making mods to these cars, but over the very long haul, original matching numbers, original color and interior and no extras like stereo speakers is going to make a difference in collector prices....although with a new center console, and rear deck this one could be put back to stock....and where are the missing tools....amazes me how someone couldn't get a hold of the missing tools for this price....IMHO Oh, and where are the photos of the underside of the car...

Also.. strange but seems to be missing the 3rd nut on the strut tower? Still a nice car, 60 large? yes we would need more pictures :-) Still not sure if I could sell mine for the price of the parts I put in it-of course that's never the goal. But nice to see that it sold and there is another one tooling around. Mornings and evenings are wonderful in Austin this time of year so I'm trying to pile the miles on while it's still less than 100 outside :-)

Ha! I am finally going to BEGIN my driving season!

That 226XXXX VIN seems to be a late for 1972.

My RHD inka CS has a 223XXXX VIN and was produced on 22 Nov 72. I understand that the factory used to paint the cars in batches. I have found two other inks cars produced on that same day; one CSL in Melbourne here in Australia, and the other a CSL for sale in the UK with 4 Star.

Can anyone clarify if 226XXXX is a 1972 VIN, possibly for LHD?

Cheers,

Rod

Rod, from what I understand ,this car started life as a different beast ..advertised originally as red cs (?) now a csi Inka ...next year Batmobile ...so gettem while they're hot !

I am curious. The listing states that this is a European spec car while being an original California car. Is that possible? I don't recall the grey market industry being around in the early 1970's. Anyone know otherwise?

If the restoration was done right, this would be a great car to own. CSi, unique (and great) color, sunroof, air... You could spend the rest of your "driving" life looking for this combo again.

Of course, it's all about who did the work and the details.

Looks like lots of filler on the strut tops, it's too creamy, just like butter. And four years ago it was advertised as a parts car.

This car did not sell at the auction. The deal fell through. I was around 3 days later and they were still trying to sell that car to me. And not for $60,000. Also there was red paint under the Inca. Not difficult to see.

Stan

With all the glass it is really difficult to drive in the blaring sun. The A/C is cranking but even with a correctly operating A/C my face is freezing but the rest of me is sweating. I am not sure why I spent all that time working on the sun roof because I will never open it when it's sunny out :-(

I just bought 14 cans of R12 and I plan on keeping 6 so if anyone needs some let me know. I paid 25 bucks a can (14 oz.) not the cheapest price but local. Sell for same plus shipping.

Dilemma, clear UV window tint seems a little yellowish and I think it might get worse with time. So, do I use a color tint to go with the color of the car or just bake- comments welcome-

Well it does get a bit warm there.....try a 12volt truckers fan with a suction mount for some extra airflow, or wear a bathing suit.....don't forget the sun block!

Too bad...

Now it's entered the twilight zone- too expensive to do over correctly.
